Thumbs

I somehow jammed up the first knuckle of my right thumb whilst trying to squeeze some lotion out of a small tube.

At first, it was just clicking and then it started to hurt. For 2 days now, I have been trying to deal with not being able to bend my right thumb. I have come to realize the importance of thumbs.

These are the things that I realize I needed my thumb for:-
  • hit the space bar on my key board;
  • button my coat, pants, shirt;
  • hold my hairbrush;
  • hold a glass of water single handed;
  • turn my key;
  • pop open the shampoo bottle;
  • hold chopsticks;
  • sign my name or write with a pen (which hinders my shopping with a credit card);

Luckily, I am ambidextrous and I can use my left hand for most things, I have to wear a splint for a few more days but this incident really make me appreciate my thumbs.
